Leadership & Community Service Program in Beijing, China is a unique program
customized for high school students seeking to fulfill the
"community service/volunteer hours" portion of their graduation requirements
while expanding their global awareness. This is a once-in-a-life chance to teach
elementary age kids, see unique sites in Beijing, and gain practical leadership
experience. Participant will earn 50-80 service hours at the conclusion of the
program. Space is limited to a maximum of 30 students per session.

- CS101: Culture-enhancing trip to Inner Mongolia. It
offers a chance to enjoy the peculiar natural beauty, brilliant
culture, and the nomadic lifestyle of Mongolians. Enjoy a
variety of grassland activities including horse riding, camel
riding, wrestling with Mongolians, horse racing show, archery,
and bonfire party.
- CS102: Culture-enhancing trip to Shanghai. In
addition to understanding the splendor metropolis, you are
offered an unique chance to explore the 2010 Shanghai World
Expo. It is a grand international gathering that attracts over
200 nations and 50 international organizations to take part in
the exhibition, and offers a wonderful opportunity for
cross-culture dialogues. The Shanghai Expo is a gallery of human
inspirations and thoughts, scientific and technological
innovation, cultural and artistic performances and amusement
activities. You simply can not miss it!

This Program is open to high school students worldwide, particularly
American and Canadian, normally age 15
and up upon departure. Teachers and parents are welcome too.
Qualifications
- Mature
- 3.0 GPA or higher
- Adaptable to sudden changes
- Flexible and tolerant of different physical, social, and economic
environments
- Independent
- Open communicator
- Friendly and open to meeting and working with strangers
- Desire to teach, lead or coach young children
- Have excellent character references
- In good health
You do not need to be able to speak Chinese or have experience to enter the
program, although experiences working with young children are
preferred (babysitting, day camp leader, children's library volunteer,
etc). However, to maximize the camp experience, it is important that you are interested in foreign cultures. Students are expected to embrace local Chinese culture while also be willing to exemplify positive attributes of the society and life of your own country.

A whole-day excursion to explore the spectacular unrestored sections
of the Great Wall - the 500-year-old mountain-top Wall from
Jinshanling to Simatai section. It gives you a truly authentic Great
Wall experience, with dramatic and breathtaking views. |

Attend Chinese culture and martial arts lessons (AM), then receive teaching training
in the afternoon |

Teach English (AM), visit Tsinghua University (PM). You have online
time for the evening to catch up with friends and families or
